BODY FAT TRANSFER

Fat Transfer - Brazilliant Butt LiftFat Transfer, also known as Fat Grafting, is a medical procedure that involves the harvesting of fat cells from one part of the body, purifying them, and then injecting them into another place in your body. The purpose of Fat Transfer is to augment or full in volume deficient areas in the body and face. Fat Transfer can be performed to increase the volume in areas such as the cheeks, hands, depressions in the skin, and for augmentation of the breast and buttocks. Fat Transfer has also been called Fat Grafting, Fat Injections, Lipotransfer and Autologous Fat Transfer.

Traditionally, Fat Transfer has been used to surgically fill and soften edges of smaller localised areas. Plastic and Aesthetic Specialists view Fat Transfers as a better option for sculpting larger areas of the body. Plastic Surgeons are using Fat Transfer methods more and more as an alternative to artificial body implants. Fat Transfer involves your own fat cells which mean that it is bio-compatible and limits the risks associated with other treatment options.

Fat Transfer for Breast

Fat Transfer can be done on breasts and is an alternative to implants to achieve a natural modest breast augmentation. Breast Fat Transfer uses fat cells removed during Liposuction from areas including the abdomen, hips and love handles and is then reinjecting into the breast area. A body Fat Transfer can also feel and look more natural than a body implant.

Who can do Body Fat Transfers?

Fat Transfers are performed on people who have overall good health and who have a realistic expectation of what the procedure is and what it can do for you. We suggest that smokers stop smoking before and following the procedure as smoking has proven to slow down the healing process and can hinder result. The most critical factor to consider is that you need to have adequate fat deposits to use for the fat transfer procedure.

Cost for Fat Transfer

Fat Transfer is considered to be a personal and unique procedure and for this reason, it is often difficult to establish an average cost. The costs are determined by a number of factors such as the number of areas treated with Liposuction, how much fat is available to use for the procedure and the number of areas you are wanting to transfer fat to. The cost of Body Fat Transfer is not currently covered by medical aids in South Africa as it is generally considered to be a plastic or cosmetic procedure.

Risks for Body Fat Transfer

As with any medical or surgical procedure, there are risks associated with this procedure and complications that may result from oral medications and the healing process. Although there is less risk associated with Fat Transfer and less chances of having any allergic reaction, there are several common risks to be expected following your procedure. The most common include bruising, swelling, stiffness, redness on the skin, bumps or uneven skin and asymmetry may also occur. You can reduce the potential complications by following the Specialist’s instructions both before and following your procedure.
