Embedded Threading

Embedded Threading, also called Thread Lifting, is a minimally invasive technique used to lift and tighten sagging tissue in the temple and brow area, the mid to lower face, and the neck. This is a non-surgical alternative to traditional surgical procedures such as brow, face and neck lift. The procedure is ideal for patients who are looking for significant results without the implications of surgery and general anaesthesia

What Is a Embedded Threading?

Embedded is a revolutionary procedure for patients who seek a noticeable tightening and lifting of sagging tissue without invasive surgery. This is a one-time procedure which takes as little as 45 minutes to up to 2 hours to perform depending on the area of the face and or neck being treated. As part of the aging process there is sagging of the skin as well as movement of the underlying fat pads in the face. The technique is designed to address both these concerns although like surgery it does not address the condition of the skin. That is improved when skin rejuvenating options are combined with Embedded Threading.

At The Melrose Aesthetic Centre we use non absorbable (permanent) threads (sutures) to perform the treatment. Unlike other sutures which are absorbable or temporary, our technique gives more significant and longer lasting results. While the sutures themselves are non-absorbable or permanent, the skin and underlying tissues will continue to age. For that reason, it is important to consider tissue rejuvenating treatment options so as to maintain the results achieved.

 One Treatment – Two Actions

The Embedded threading treatment enables several actions at the same time:

  • Lifting of underlying fat pads critical to facial volume and appearance
  • Tightening of tissues thereby reducing the sagging appearance
  • Volume relocation that moves the fat pads to the ideal position for a more youthful appearance

Who is the ideal candidate for Embedded Threading?

  • Embedded threading is ideally suited to patients who are concerned about:
  • sagging skin in the forehead and brow area
  •  sagging skin in the midface giving rise to lines under the eyes, in the naso-labial and in the jowl areas
  •  sagging skin in the neck and a loss of a defined neck line
  •  volume loss in the mid face and temple area

What Is the Typical Course Of Treatment?

A consultation with Dr Cohen is essential to outline your concerns with your face and neck area. It is important to advise of your concerns so that the appropriate treatment options can be discussed with you. Dr Cohen will offer Embedded threading solutions where appropriate and may suggest combinations of these with other treatments such as fat transfer and skin rejuvenating treatments to achieve the desired outcome and ultimate result.

Once you have agreed on the treatment plan it is essential to have a pre-procedure consultation with one of our nursing staff. At that time additional information will be provided about the procedure and any questions will be answered that may have arisen subsequent to your original consultation.

Embedded threading is performed by Dr Cohen under sterile conditions to avoid any risks of skin infection. Mild sedatives are given pre-procedure so that you are relaxed. Tiny incisions are made in the scalp as neck area where appropriate. These heal without any visible marks. The threads are placed after the area has been treated with local anaesthetic. Post the procedure micropore tape is placed that should be kept on for a 48-hour period. At the follow up visit the tape is removed and further care instructions are reiterated to you.

What Can You / Can’t You Expect from The Treatment?

Results are visible immediately after treatment however are best observed once the limited amount of swelling that occurs has subsided. Occasionally there may be a small amount of bruising that is self-limiting and resolves over a limited period. All the tiny incisions heal within a few days. The longevity of the results is dependent on many factors, including your age, the area treated as well as your overall health and lifestyle. That said, our Embedded threading technique has more significant results that the traditional absorbable sutures offered by other practitioners.

When Do We Advise Against It?

Dr Cohen will review your medical history with you. It is important that you advise on all medications you are taking especially anti- inflammatory and other blood thinning medications. If you have medical issues such as elevated blood pressure, heart disease, skin infections, are using immuno-suppressant drugs, suffer from anaemia, or are pregnant or lactating, it is important to bring this to our attention. Dr Cohen will advise you accordingly.

What Are the Unwanted Effects / Risks Of The Treatment?

It is important that you notify your specialist of all and any pre-existing medical conditions before treatment. We suggest you stop any blood thinning medication a few days before and after the procedure. The most common side effects are slight swelling and bruising, which will disappear within a few hours to days. However, do not hesitate to contact your specialist should you have any other side effects as all skin injection procedures carry a risk of infection, even in the most stringently clean environments.
